UTILITY OPERATOR

JFS Milling Inc, located 1 mile north of Dubois, IN on Highway 545 is an affiliate of Farbest Foods/Farbest Farms.  This new state-of-the art computerized facility is responsible for the manufacture and delivery in excess of 8,500 tons per week of complete feed for turkeys in Southern Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

The mill currently has a position open for a Utility Operator on their night shift working 6PM – 6AM Sunday through Wednesday and day shift, 6AM-6PM, Wednesday-Saturday.   Operators will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including:  ingredient receiving, feed manufacturing and load-out.

FLOCK SUPERVISOR

Due to continued growth of the organization Farbest Farms, Inc. is adding to its staff. This position supervises the grower’s management and growing practices to assure each flock is properly maintained in accordance with Company guidelines:

Responsibilities:

  • Continuous premise improvement responsibilities;
  • Monitoring flock health and prescribing corrective actions;
  • Communicating with all parties in regard to flocks;
  • Educating growers on new programs and continuous improvement methods;

Qualifications:

  • Problem solving and data analysis skills;
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills;
  • BS in agricultural related field or equivalent work experience with animal husbandry;
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Brooder Hub Assistant Manager

Farbest Farms, Inc. has a position available at its Watkins Creek Brooder hub in Lewis.   The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting the Manager with

  • Planning daily work schedules;
  • Keeping records;
  • Ordering materials;
  • Supervising farm labor;
  • Ensuring bio-security;
  • Performing other laboring functions to keep the farm running.

Previous experience with poultry and/or animal husbandry preferred:  Ability to perform basic computer tasks.  The basic work schedule is dayshift, Monday-Friday,  with weekend rotations.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.   Must live within 30 minutes of the farm.

Maintenance Mechanics

Farbest Foods, Inc. is looking for individuals to staff our 2nd and 3rd shift maintenance crew.   Responsibilities include electrical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment. Experience or training in electrical and mechanical maintenance required.   2:30PM or 10:30 start, M-F.

All applicants will take a written and hands on demonstration test to determine skill level.

Earn up to $19.00 an hour with our new wage structure.   Benefits include health, vision and life insurance, paid vacations and holidays and 401K pension plan.


 

Maintenance Mechanics- Vincennes, IN

Job Description: Operate and perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of plant production equipment and utility systems.  System responsibilities include switch gears, transformers, PLC’s, rotating equipment, conveyor’s, food processing equipment, plant lighting, mechanical equipment, augers, grinders, piping systems, etc…

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain and perform maintenance activities on plant process and support equipment.
  • Have a strong understanding of operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Have basic understanding of normal operating parameters and procedures for industrial switch gear, electrical distribution systems, transformers, PLC’s and plant process equipment.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records.
  • Observe and electrical system operation, using gauges and instruments.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. Have a basic understanding of electrical circuits. Including control voltages and single phase and three phase power up to 4160 V.
  • Engage in dismantling, assembling, and installing mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Adhere to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Complete basic P.M’s including visual inspection, measuring, greasing, and cleaning equipment.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement tools and assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Learn and adhere to sanitation, safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Train and assist with Level I Maintenance Mechanics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:Education, Experience, and Qualification:

  • Associates degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred. High school diploma and two to 4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills required to operate equipment monitoring systems.
  • Welding certification a plus
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Effective written and communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills required to operate and troubleshoot equipment.

Physical:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to pass all medical exams, drug and background checks (including criminal).
  • Physical demand requirements: Stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift.
  • Must be capable of working from a ladder or other type of elevated working surface.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment with moderate noise.

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to work required hours and shifts, including working weekends, overtime and on holidays.
  • Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to supply and maintain a personal standard mechanics tool set. (List of required tools will be provided prior to employment)
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license.

REFRIGERATION OPERATOR

 Farbest Foods, Inc. is looking for a Refrigeration Operator. – Vincennes, IN

The responsibilities for this position include monitoring the ammonia based refrigeration system, through computer and manual checks.   The operator performs basic mechanical work on machinery and equipment.   Experience and/or training in electrical and mechanical maintenance preferred but not required.

Weekend work is required.

Loading Crew 

Farbest Foods, Inc. has positions available on the nightshift turkey loading crew.

Major responsibility with this position is to ensure the turkeys are placed onto the conveyor loader belts and loaded into the cages of the trucks.  Physically lifting the turkey (minimum of 40 pounds) onto the loader is sometimes required.

Ability to understand and follow through on general safety, operating, and quality assurance procedures.

Previous experience helpful but not required.

 Poult Loading Crew

Due to our growth,  Farbest Farms has several new positions available on the Poult moving  Crew.  These positions will be responsible for moving turkey poults at a company hub brooding facility. Responsibilities:

  • Help move, place and feed poults;
  • Spread shavings and set up barns and pens to brood poults.
  • Prepare barn for next brood;
  • Help with basic grounds keeping tasks;
  • Insure biosecurity between farms;
  • Adhere to company’s animal welfare guidelines;

The work schedule will vary Monday-Friday and include some Saturday s, starting at 2AM-4AM , 8-12 hour shifts.  Salary commensurate with skills and experience, excellent benefit package .


 PRODUCTION WORKER – Huntingburg and Vincennes, IN

Farbest Farms is looking for an individual interested in working at their brooder hubs located in Lewis,  near Sullivan/Terre Haute.  Duties include Barn set up for brooding baby turkeys; Placing, caring for and moving turkey poults; Barn and equipment cleanup; Other manual farm type tasks.  The basic work schedule is dayshift, Monday-Friday, with weekend rotations.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  This is an hourly position with benefits. JFS Milling is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in operating modern tractor/trailers and/or straight trucks delivering feed to contract growers. Openings for both day and night shift. Successful applicants will possess a Class “A” CDL, experience preferred, with an impeccable driving record.
